Dracaena Fragrans is famous for its shiny leaves and white six-lobed corolla flowers. People have embraced this exotic beauty as a decorative houseplant in Europe since the mid 1800s, and was popularized in the United States at the turn of the 20th century.
Dracaena is a genus of plants that contains over 120 species. Dracaena Fragrans is known by a variety of names including “Lemon Light” and is commonly referred to as the “Corn Plant” due to its thick cane which resembles a cornstalk.
This plant is an absolute breeze to care for and only requires that you water it once a week or when the top of the soil feels dry to the touch. While these plants prefer to live in moist soil, it's important not to over-water as they are susceptible to root-rot if left in sitting water.
Though Dracaena Fragrans is both fragrant and beautiful, it also produces a chemical called Saponin that is toxic to pets. If you have pets, it's best to keep this plant out of reach.
In the evening, Dracaena Fragrans gives off a sweet, calming fragrance that is noticeable from up to a hundred feet away.
People love the aromatic nature of this easy-to-care-for plant and often use it to bring a naturally soothing smell into their home or office.
