Sansevieria Trifasciata is a colorful tropical perennial that has earned itself a multitude of names including; Saint George’s Sword, Mother-in-laws Tongue, and Viper’s Bowstring Hemp. You are probably most familiar with hearing Sansevieria Trifasciata referred to as the “Snake Plant”.
This is an incredibly easy plant to grow and a fantastic choice for any aspiring horticulturist. Sansevieria Trifasciata is remarkably resilient and only requires watering once every 2-8 weeks depending on its environment. Snake Plants, named for the snake-like color patterns on their leaves, can deal with a variety of different light situations. These plants thrive in indirect sunlight, but can also survive in both shaded areas, and direct sunlight.
Don't let this plant's beauty fool you, Sansevieria Trifasciata is considered a highly toxic plant when consumed and is poisonous to both humans and pets. If you have pets or small children in your home, you'll want to keep this plant well out of reach.
Snake plants are ideal for the bedroom because they suck in toxins through their leaves and emit pure oxygen. Oxygen rich-environments promote better sleep, and assist the body in a multitude of biological functions.
When you want to breathe new life into your home or office, the Snake Plant can provide the beauty and purification you've been looking for.
