The Calathea Freddie houseplant is native to areas of Brazil, which is the basis for its preference for tropical to subtropical conditions when growing in your home. Luckily for you, many if not all of these conditions are easily obtainable in the average household, specifically temperature and humidity ranges. Your Calathea Freddie plant is going to like things to be warm and humid whenever possible, to match the environments they would naturally enjoy.
While this plant can produce flowers, its true appeal comes from its unique, colorful foliage. As tends to be the case with Calathea plants, this variation grows to possess a striped color pattern across its leaves, alternating between shades of white and green. Its “Zebra Plant” nickname can be attributed to this.
Of course, their colorful foliage isn’t the only thing that makes the Calathea a genetic rarity. Depending on the time of day, its leaves will move into one of many positions. This is due to the Calathea’s love of natural sunlight, which it simply can’t get enough of. During the day, its leaves stretch outward in order to absorb as much light as possible, and during the night, they curve back upward and give the plant a much more refined appearance.
According to the ASPCA, the Calathea family of plants is non-toxic to both humans and animals. This is terrific news if you have any small children or pets, as this plant will pose no threat. Still, for the safety of the plant, avoid placing yours anywhere that will make it prone to falling or being gnawed on by animals.

I've never bought a live plant thru the mail, so I wasn't sure what to expect. The packaging was carefully thought out and put together to completely protect the plant and pot. It arrived in great condition, just as if I had bought it from the store. My calathea is doing well. I've had her for 3 weeks now and she is thriving and growing. I would purchase from here again.
Plantquility, I love all 4 of my perfectly packed plants, but I'm worried about Freddie because so far I haven't had luck with calathea... but I think my luck will change for the better. One week in and Freddie looks good. Thank you!
Couldn't have asked for more. It was packed well so the plant wasn't damaged in transport and no dirt spilled. The plant arrived healthy, happy, and pest-free. And the pot is very cute! And matches the rest of my modern decor. I am a happy new plant mom :)
