The Lemon Lime Plant is a member of the Dracaena family, a vast collection of popular houseplants known for their excellent sustainability. This plant is best characterized by its long, sword-shaped leaves, which naturally grow into a rosette that hides away the plant’s thick stem. The leaves possess bright green and yellow stripes, which is what has earned them the “lemon-lime” moniker. When cared for properly, it can reach anywhere from 5 to 7 ft., and since its leaves grow upward from the very bottom of the plant, it creates an incredibly alluring bush for your home.
As is the case with the majority of Dracaena, Lemon Lime Plant care is easily adaptable to its environment. Temperature and humidity requirements are very relaxed for this plant, and fertilization is on a simple, monthly basis. It enjoys bright, indirect light, but it has no issues adjusting to lower light conditions if necessary.
When watering a Lemon Lime Plant, avoid using tap water whenever possible, opting instead for purified water. The chemicals in tap water are dangerous to the plant’s roots.
According to the ASPCA, the Lemon Lime Plant is poisonous to cats and dogs, so avoid placing them in spaces that are accessible to pets.
