Yes, the Dumb Cane is mildly toxic. When chewed or ingested, this plant can cause nausea and other effects, such as the burning and swelling of the lips, tongue and throat. Pets experience similar, but heightened, effects.
Keep out of reach of pets and children. To avoid coming into contact with sap, wear a pair of gloves while maintaining your plant.
What’s the ideal temperature?
The Dumb Cane prefers temperatures in the range of 65° - 85° F (18° - 29°). Any temperature below 50° F (10° C) could prove harmful for the plant’s health. Avoid placing this plant near drafty windows or doors.
What’s the ideal humidity level?
The Dumb Cane enjoys average household humidity, meaning you do not have to make any special adjustments. To provide your plant with increased humidity levels, occasionally use a water bottle to mist its leaves.
