Is the Croton Mammy toxic?
The sap of the Croton Mammy, if ingested, can cause severe gastrointestinal upset including nausea, vomiting and diarrhea. So be sure to keep this plant away from curious furry friends. In addition, sap can be irritating if it contacts bare skin. For this treason, it is a good idea to wear gardening gloves when handling your Croton Mammy.
What’s the ideal temperature?
The Croton Mammy is not accustomed to extremely cold or extremely hot weather. This houseplant does best in temperatures between 50 and 80 degrees Fahrenheit. Most importantly, it is important to remember that this amazing little plant is not frost resistant. So be sure to keep your Croton Mammy away from open windows or cold drafts during the winter season.
What’s the ideal humidity level?
As a native to tropical climates, the Croton Mammy loves humidity. Ideally, this houseplant thrives when it lives in places where humidity levels are anywhere from 40-80%. No need to fear if you live in an area that is not super sticky, there are several ways to keep your Croton happy and moist. One great solution is to occasionally mist your indoor plant and also be sure to keep its soil moist at all times. Another great option is to place your plant’s pot on a pebble tray filled with water in order to increase local humidity.
